About the Office of the Public Advocate

The Office of the Public Advocate is a non-governmental office established by Shane Harris to take on issues affecting San Diegans at the regional and local levels. It is not a nonprofit organization nor a government agency, but an independent advocacy office dedicated to elevating community concerns, amplifying underserved voices, and supporting initiatives related to equity, public well-being, social justice, and community empowerment. The Office works to highlight gaps in services, bring attention to urgent local needs, and stand alongside community-driven efforts that strengthen San Diego’s social fabric.
